Face-To-Face and Online Sydney Child Psychologists

No matter where you are in Sydney or Australia we’re able to provide assistance for your child. Our Child Psychologists are trained to be able to provide even the most complex of treatments online. And of course we’re always here in our North Sydney offices for any child that would benefit more from a face-to-face intervention. 

Child Psychologist Fees and Rebates

Cadence Psychology’s professional child psychologist team charge $240 per session for sessions between 9am-5pm. This is significantly less than the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended rate of $280 per session. 

Children with a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP are able to also access a rebate of $93.35 per session for up to 10 sessions per year. 

We are also able to process private health insurance rebates on site with our HICAPS system.

Sydney Child Psychologist FAQs

The first session is a parent/caregiver only session and will be for 50 minutes and will focus on getting an understanding of why help is needed, your childs strengths and goals and the outcomes you hope to achieve.


Following the initial parent session, sessions may involve a child alone, parents/caregivers alone, or parents/caregivers and children together depending on the nature of the difficulties and the skills that need to be developed.  This will be discussed in the first session. Sessions are 50mins in length.

Sometimes it is helpful to make recommendations to the teacher about how best to support a child in the classroom or playground, or it is helpful to gather information from a teacher about what is happening at school. If this is the case for your child, this will be discussed with you first and you will be asked to sign a consent to consult form to give your psychologist permission to speak to the teacher. Reports can be written for a specific purpose such as school recommendations. Cost details for this service are specified in the Fee Information provided at intake.

Note: Cadence Psychology does not provide medico-legal reports or for other court purposes.

Cadence Psychology does not provide conduct formal psychometric assessments for school or other purposes.

For children under age of 16, the parent is technically the client. As such Psychologists will try to communicate the important developments of therapy with parents where it is appropriate.

All personal information disclosed will remain confidential except when:

  1. It is subpoenaed by a court
  2. Failure to disclose the information would place you or another person at risk to life, health or safety; or
  3. Your prior approval has been obtained to:
  4. a) provide a written report to another professional or agency, eg. a GP; or
  5. b) discuss the material with another person, e.g. a doctor or employer; or
  6. Disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law.
